The unique Hadji Nikoli Inn has been given new life and modern comfort while preserving its authentic character. Following a long and thorough restoration, the Hadji Nikoli Inn opened its doors for visitors and guests in March 2010 and quickly turned into a significant cultural center. The Complex of Hadji Nikoli Inn now comprises of several exhibition halls and an Art gallery, a restaurant with differently decorated lounges with a summer garden, coffee shop, wine-bar and a wine-shop.
Hadji Nikoli Inn is located in the heart of Veliko Tarnovo. It is a valuable specimen of the monumental public architecture of the late Renaissance. The Inn was declared a national antique and cultural monument of national significance. The Inn is bound symbolically and sentimentally with the history and inhabitants of the old capital. Hadji Nikoli Inn was built in the period 1858–1862 by the native genius builder Kolyo Ficheto for the rich merchant Hadji Nikoli. The Inn is also significant because of the fact that it is the only inn of all 70 inns built in the city that survived over the years.
The restaurant of the Hadji Nikoli Inn offers a unique atmosphere of comfort and authenticity with perfect service, European and Bulgarian traditional dishes, a gourmet menu, a wide collection of high-quality Bulgarian wines and wines from all over the world which are carefully selected by a team of dedicated oenologists. There are several lounges in the restaurant located on two floors. The main restaurant, which is on the first floor, accommodates up to 60 people. On the second floor of the restaurant, there are two more lounges with a capacity for 20 people.
The beautiful summer garden of the complex is located in the courtyard of the Hadji Nikoli Inn. The garden is a perfect place for dining, relaxation, entertainment, performances in the open, readings, chamber music concerts, company events, parties, banquets, wine-testing, weddings, cocktails and more. During the summer evenings you could enjoy live classic guitar, acordeon and piano music in the open. The garden accommodates up to 60 people.
The Art Gallery of the Hadji Nikoli Inn in Veliko Turnovo opened in March 2010, for to become a regular home for valuable exhibits of the best pieces of Bulgarian and foreign modern art. The Art Gallery is located on the third floor of the Hadji Nikoli Inn and has six exhibit halls devided in two separated wings. Hadji Nikoli Inn has it's own collection of paintings.
The exhibition halls of the Hadji Nikoli Inn is are regularly a home for valuable exhibits and artifacts from Bulgarian history. It hosts museum exhibitions and displays where one can enjoy the best pieces of Bulgarian modern art.
The Hadji Nikoli Inn won the Special award of the Jury of the “Building of the Year 2010” National Contest for investment in preserving the cultural heritage of Bulgaria and the Award of the Audience. The awards were given by the minister of of Regional Development and Public Works Mr. Rosen Plevneliev (the present President of Republic of Bulgaria).
Guest house “Lion House” is located in the center of Veliko Turnovo, within one of the most famous and visited tourist sights of town. The house is located at the end of Georgi Sava Rakovski Street, also known as the Arts and Crafts Street, which leads to a small square - the so called Samovosdka Charshia Square. Lion House is 10 metres away from the National monument of Culture the Hadji Nikoli Inn.
